Ok ok that was a really bad pun for a title. I found some memory on newegg (again). Seems newegg has the cheapest prices around. Anyway, I found some memory on newegg for a nice cheap price of $23.99 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139659). I know you all want more than 4GB of power for your HTPC but you shouldn't need more than that to run good streams from your server or to play DVD/Blu-Ray smoothly. The memory only uses 1.5V which is nothing on our power supply so we are styling there.
Let's look at a price breakdown of what I have purchased so far:
picoPSU-150-XT + 102W Adapter Power Kit - $68.00
ASRock A75M-ITX FM1 AMD A75 Motherboard - $89.99
AMD A4-3400 Llano 2.7 GHz Dual-Core Processor - $69.99
Kingston Value 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 Ram - $23.99
For a grand total of $251.97 - shipping
All that's left to buy now is the DVD drive, the hard drive, and some
LED's. I know that I'll probably put that off for 2 weeks to recover
from paying this much.
Electricoant used the XBOX 360 rings to make his
work but I have a different idea in mind. It will still make use of the rings but with my own flavor of LED light. See you guys in two weeks. If you have any comments I'll check the blog constantly between now and my next post. Laters
Looks like a pretty solid build. Settling for DVD over Bluray?
